Swift Current Bantam Tournament

The Swift Current Bantam "AA" tournament got underway yesterday with eight teams taking part.  Of the eight teams, there is one "AAA" team - Calgary Northstar Sabres.  Although the Northstar Sabres are sitting 4th in Challenger South with a 4-10-3 record, they have only allowed 9 more goals than they've scored.  We'll see just how good a team such as Melville is from Saskatchewan, who would have to be considered the best team from Saskatchewan their.  Also taking part in the tournament are:  Regina Hurricanes, Saskatoon Frostbite, Calgary NWCAA, Edmonton SSAC Alberta Sportswear AA, Notre Dame AA and Swift Current.

Day 1
Calgary Northstar Sabres 6 - Notre Dame AA Hounds 2
A pair of 98 born stars led the way for Calgary as Brayden Dunn scored 1-5-6 while Parker Aucoin 3-2-5.  Jordan Xavier the captain also picked up 3 points.  Jack Flaman anad Rhett Kingston scored for Notre Dame.

Swift Current 7 - SSAC AA 2
Tanner Nagal scored 3 goals for Swift Current in the win.  Team scoring leader Kole Lind was strong with 1-2-3.  For SSAC, Jake Donald had 1-1-2.  Donald has just 5 points in 17 league games in the ERBHL.  Ryan Gorodetsky had 20 pims and he has 32 this year in the ERBHL.

Melville 7 - Calgary NWCAA AA 6
Dakota Boutin had a huge game with 2-4-6 and Rykr Cole had 1-2-3.  For Calgary, Hayden Ursalak had 3-1-4.  He leads his AA council team with 7-7-14 in the regular season.  Cale Makar was said to be strong on Defense for Calgary.

Regina Hurricanes 4 - Saskatoon Frostbite 3
Dennan Blanchard had 1-2-3 to lead the way for the Regina Hurricanes.  Blanchard leads his team in scoring this year with 5-2-7 in 8 games.  Erik Fleishhacker had 2 goals for the Frostbite and Cam Hebig, the teams scoring leader with 2 assists.

Action continues today at 10:45 am in Swift Current.

Just curious why you would think Melville is the best Saskatchewan team at the tournament? Looking at the league they lost both contests between them and Swift this season!
