Players you have ranked for first round in the draft on Abby and Seafair need to be re-assessed. These teams cannot get it done against average competition in their league with their highly touted talent while players on BWC can't crack your top two rounds or even make your list. Don't the best teams also have some of the best players?

Perhaps you should let the scouts know who from BWC needs to be in the top couple rounds then. I have watched BWC play many times and they play a great team game but don't have many standouts in the 96 age group. Some of their top players are in the 97 age group such as Chris Seto, Justin Szeto and matt Barzal. If you are referring to Virtanen and Sandhu not being in the first couple rounds then you have to re-assess that idea yourself. most of the players from those teams ranked on that list are 4th-5th rounds aside from those players.

You know the rankings of players are skewed when the the teams are such as seafair.on what basis is that?and then wozney from seafair ranked top 100.honestly people good players with good skills make a team like Bwc good.some of the players listed don't have what it takes to play this team game cause they are selfish.a major flaw in a player if u ask me.Bwc players may not appear to be standouts cause they don't hog the puck or float at the gluelike but they are skilled players with hockey sense and good work ethic among other qualities highly regarded

You only have to go back as far as last year when just 3 players from a very good BWC team were drafted in the whole entire draft. I believe Ast was in the 1st round, Carvalho 4th and Pellah 5th round and that was it. Fact of the matter is, BWC is a great "team". Next year, you'll likely see higher picks as there could be as many as 3 first rounders in the 97 age group.

You are bang on! BWC wins on depth and a team game. I do believe they have 4-5 draft picks this year but likely no first rounders.
Next year 3 possible first rounders and 8 possible draft picks.

BWC are great recruiters!

Good for them!

I still have issues with Winter Clubs being allowed to be in the running for Provinical Titles.. They should be treated just like POE. Great teams, yes, but why not stay in their own home associations? Because parents can't get along with others?

just wondering....

Sounds like a lot of sour grapes.why should kids be held back by playing in lower tiered associations if they are good enough to be playing at the highest level?is it not about developing the talent?if anything bc should have major bantam leagues like Alberta

Not a whole lot of parity across Western Canada. Every province has a different system.

Pacific coast has an inherent disparity due to the grandfathered private club rules (my opinion).

What is the difference between people moving to the private clubs and moving to other associations? Seafair has two players who were on the NSWC peewee AAA team two years ago and I think two players who played on the BWC peewee AAA team at the same time (if I'm wrong on two, don't shoot me as it may only be one). That's an upgrade for them from an exodus OUT of the private clubs. Abby has three players who played AAA Tier One Bantam as first years in other associations last year and at least one other player move to Abbotsford. That's an upgrade of four players in just one year.

As for the parents, the parents from NSWC, Hollyburn and BWC seem to get along better than those in other associations.

Create a major bantam league.that way the best play the best and their skill can be developed to it's maximum level.end of all the whining and bickering amongst crazed hockey parents

Sour grapes.what's wrong?Johnny not as good as you thought he was?can't keep up to the better players?

Anonymous said...

I thought Bwc doesn't have any standout 96'ers?how are they doing it?

Anonymous said...

Yes.I thought all the talent was elsewhere

Anonymous said...

You go on about the 97's on BWC as if they ARE the team Just curious, if there are no standout 96's on the team then why were 4 of the six goals scored against Cloverdale scored by 96 players?

Anonymous said...

How about everybody just drop it and leave the hockey to the kids and the scouting to the scouts

I've got to say that it is pure entertainment watching people get so worked up

Why should everyone drop it and leave it to the scouts? What would any of us talk about then? Why are you here in that case?

How are Sefair, cloverdale and abby ranked at all. They have tough times getting by teams like surrey and semiahmoo. I believe Surrey beat abby 3-2, and then lost 5-4, proving that surrey can compete with abby. Don't get me wrong, both games were graet games. Surrey tied Sefair 4-4, and lost 2-1. Sefair also tied semiahmoo 3-3. Cloverdale lost to NSWC and tied Hollyburn. They only beat surrey becasue of refs. Abbotsford tied Chilliwack as well. Cloverdale lost to Chilliwack as well. How can these teams with these reults be ranked in top 15?

Did the Bisons not lose to Juan de Fuca? I believe the Bronks did as well. Some parents way of judging talent is ridiculous. BC has talent and do not need 3 A's in front or after them to know it.
