WEHP LIVE at the GSHL TOURNAMENT

During the GSHL tournament in Saskatoon, I'll do my best to update the games as they become final and try to add as much stats as possible.

Saskatoon Bandits 4 - Martinsville Marauders 3
There have been a couple of games already completed this morning. First of all, the Saskatoon Bandits narrowly defeated the Martinsville Marauders 4-3. Leading the way for the Bandits was Graham Gove with 2 goals and highly touted Collin Shirley with 2 goals and 1 assist. For Martinsville, it was Teal Sobkowicz with 2 goals and Austin Glover with a pair of assists. Glover is Martinsville's leading scorer this season with 22 points in 14 league games. Players of the game were goaltending Austin Dahl from the Outlaws and Austin Glover from Martinsville.

Saskatoon Outlaws 6 - Swift Current Kubos Raiders 3
In a game that features a couple of the more highly touted prospects from Saskatchewan in Kolten Olynek from the Outlaws and Tim Vanstone from the Raiders, it was the Outlaws prevailing. For the Outlaws, it was Olynek, Kade Kehoe and 97 born defenceman Connor Hobbs each scoring twice. 97 born forward Wyatt Sloboshan had a pair of assists. Hobbs was named player of the game for the Outlaws. For Swift Current, it was Jordan Wittman earning player of the game honours with 1-1-2, Tim Vanstone was held to 1 assist. Big defenceman, Carter Forsyth scored a goal and is going to be someone to watch moving forward.

Saskatoon Maniacs 7 - Saskatoon Frostbite 1
A battle featuring a pair of GSHL teams was nothing more than a lopsided afair with the Maniacs skating by the Frostbite 7-1. The top line of Shynkaruk/97 born Hebig and Ashton Wake combined for the lone Frostbite goal with Wake scoring it. For the Maniacs, it was Dawson Leedahl leading the way with 2-1-3 and Jimmy Lambert had 3 assists. Leedahl is a player is rising fast up our rankings. Lambert is expected to be a high pick for the 2012 bantam draft. Rod Southem scored a pair of goals for the Maniacs and defenceman Connor Swystun had a pair of assists. Players of the game were goaltender Austin Swystun for the Maniacs and Mike Melnyk for the Frostbite, Melnyk was held scoreless.

Saskatoon Generals 6 - Saskatoon Stallions 5
In another all saskatoon battle it was the Generals narrowly beating the Stallions 6-5. Leading the way for the Generals it was David Sheppard with 3-1-4. Tyler Pickett scored a goal and added 14 Pims! Joshua Bly had 2-1-3 for the Stallions, highly touted Rourke Chartier had 1-1-2. Hunter Rowlett had 14 Pims. Players of the game were Keenan Sjodin for the Stallions who had 1 assist and for the Generals it was David Sheppard.

Weyburn Redwings 14 - Meadow Lake Stamps 0
In one of the most lopsided games in recent memory at this tournament, the SSBHL Weyburn Redwings rolled to a 14-0 win over the Meadow Lake Stamps. Nicholas Pouliot, the younger brother of WHL 1st rounder Derrick Pouliot had a huge game with 2-4-6, Braden Melon and Trey Tendler each scored 4 goals and 97 born Regan Nagy had 4 assists. Braden Melon was named player of the game by scouts in attendance.

Warman Wildcats 6 - Unity Lazers 2
One of the pre-tournament favourites Warman Wildcats were able to get by the Unity Lazers 6-2. Kiefer Hintz, a 97 born talent was easily the best player for Unity with 1-1-2 and many chances for more, however Braden Lacoursiere was named player of the game with some good two-way play. For Warman it was #1 overall ranked Ryan Pilon with 1-2-3 and top 97 prospect Terrell Draude with 1-1-2. Player of the game for Warman was Paul Farbacher who had a pair of assists.

Russell Rams 8 - Tisdale Ramblers 2
As expected, the Russell Rams defeated the Tisdale Ramblers 8-2. Russell, who plays AA in the Parkisimo Hockey League in Manitoba were able to bring along the Sanheim twins from Elkhorn to complete their shortened roster. They join Jayce Hawryluk who is absolutely tearing apart his league with over 7 points per game so far. For Russell, Jayce Hawryluk had 3-2-5 and Rylee Zimmer 1-3-4. Defenceman Taylor Sanheim had 1-1-2. The player of the game for Russell was goaltender Sean Cook. Chornawka and Stadnek scored for Tisdale and player of the game was goaltender Colt Prall.

Melville Millionaires 7 - Melfort Mustangs 6
SSBHL's Melville kept the CFHL winless so far in the tournament with a 7-6 victory this afternoon. Jaden Kreklewich had 3 goals for Melville and Dylan Bear had 3 assists. 97 born dman, Ethan Bear had a goal as well for Melville. Donovan Neuls had 2-1-3. The player of the game for Melville was Jaden Kreklewich who had the 3 goals. For Melfort, Chad Grambo had a pair of goals, Rylan Freed had an assists and the player of the game was Caleb Goudy with 1-1-2.
