WHL holds Bantam Draft Lottery Today

As teams across the Western Hockey League get ready for the upcoming 2011 Playoffs, a handful of teams will be looking towards the future today.

The WHL is holding it's annual Bantam Draft Lottery, which will decide the order of the first six picks.

The six non-playoff teams will be the one's taking part, with 21 balls going into the barrel.

Calgary finished the regular season with the league's worst record and has six balls available to be picked. Swift Current has five, Regina has four, Lethbridge has three, Seattle has two, and Kamloops has one.

A team can move up a maximum of two positions in the Bantam Draft. Only one ball is drawn in the Lottery.

Here are the different scenario's that the draft can work out;

1). If Calgary wins the lottery, Calgary will have the first pick, Swift Current will have the second pick, Regina will have the third pick, Lethbridge will have the fourth pick, Seattle will have the fifth pick and Kamloops will have the sixth pick in the first round of the WHL Bantam Draft.

2). If Swift Current wins the lottery, Swift Current will have the first pick, Calgary will have the second pick, Regina will have the third pick, Lethbridge will have the fourth pick, Seattle will have the fifth pick and Kamloops will have the sixth pick in the first round of the WHL Bantam Draft.

3). If Regina wins the lottery, Regina will have the first pick, Calgary will have the second pick, Swift Current will have the third pick, Lethbridge will have the fourth pick, Seattle will have the fifth pick and Kamloops will have the sixth pick in the first round of the WHL Bantam Draft.

*Note: Regina has previously traded their first round pick to Lethbridge, so if a Regina ball is drawn, it will be announced that Lethbridge (from Regina) has won the lottery.

4). If Lethbridge wins the lottery, Calgary will have the first pick, Lethbridge will have the second pick, Swift Current will have the third pick, Regina will have the fourth pick, Seattle will have the fifth pick and Kamloops will have the sixth pick in the first round of the WHL Bantam Draft.

5). If Seattle wins the lottery, Calgary will have the first pick, Swift Current will have the second pick, Seattle will have the third pick, Regina will have the fourth pick, Lethbridge will have the fifth pick and Kamloops will have the sixth pick in the first round of the WHL Bantam Draft.

6). If Kamloops wins the lottery, Calgary will have the first pick, Swift Current will have the second pick, Regina will have the third pick, Kamloops will have the fourth pick, Lethbridge will have the fifth pick and Seattle will have the sixth pick in the first round of the WHL Bantam Draft
