Bantam teams wrap up at International tournaments

The Notre Dame Hounds Bantam AAA team were over seas competing at the Tretiak Cup in Moscow that wrapped up this weekend.  The Hounds were the only club team at the event competing against the best in that age group from Sweden, Finland, Russia, Latvia and other countries.  The winner of the tournament was CSKA Moscow who went 7-1-0.  Maxim Lazarev from Ak bars led the tournament in scoring with 10-7-17 in just 6 games.

For Notre Dame and the WHL bantam prospects, they were led by Ben Duppereault with 3-0-3, Blake Penner 2-1-3 and Haydn Fleury with 1-1-2.  The Hounds finished the tournament at 1-5-0.

Moving on to the 97 born class now and the summer hockey season has started up with a group of 97 born players from Calgary heading to Prague to take part in the 97 World Selects Invite. The Calgary Nationals went 1-4-0 and were led by Braylon Shmyr who had 4-2-6 in the 5 games.  Shmyr could be a first round candidate for 2012 WHL Bantam Draft.

The 97 summer hockey season will continue this coming weekend when a number of the top teams will converge on Calgary, AB to take part in the Champions Cup.  I hope to have a re-cap of some of the key players in the tournament afterwards.
